Invented and developed by Conway Witten of GWR, these angled spark plug adaptors allow the spark plug to be angled 8 degrees from the factory position, which through Conway's "wetflow" development reduces the amount of fuel wetting that occurs as the air/fuel enters the combustion chamber and fuel forms back into liquid droplets along the chamber walls.  Reducing the amount of fuel that wets the plug improves the plugs ability to lite off the air/fuel mixture resulting in improved combustion speed and thus can reduce the amount of ignition lead that the engine requires. Angling the the spark plug closer toward the exhaust valve also helps ensure that the mixture surrounding the electrode is hotter and therefore the fuel is better atomized.  Lastly,  placing the the electrode of the plug in the most central position possible will minimize the flame spread path across the cylinder and thus further minimize the combustion period.  Therefore, extended / projected tip plugs should be used whenever possible.  See the pictures below showing the differences in spark plug electrode depth of several types of spark plugs.  These adaptors will fit any head that takes a 14mm x 3/8" reach flat seat or 14mm x 7/16" tapered seat spark plug.  The plugs that are used with the adaptors are 10mm x 3/4" reach plugs.

Dyno tests have seen 5 - 10HP improvements on small block chevy engines using factory straight plug heads.  Track testing has shown that some combinations have reduced their ET and gained more MPH than what 10HP should improve.  One explanation is that since most dyno tests are conducted with controlled linear acceleration rates, the adaptors effect on combustion speed is being masked.  In the vehicle, the engine's acceleration rate is limited by the load of the vehicle, which is exponential and has transient changes due to launch and gear changes.  More testing, both dyno and on-track is being planned and will be posted here as soon as testing is complete.

GOT HEADER CLEARANCE ISSUES???
Yet another great benefit of using these adaptors is that they are great for creating header clearance around tightly bent header tubes.  Many street rod enthusiasts have had the unpleasant experience of burning up a set of spark plug wires due to the tight clearances between the straight plug heads and many types of headers.  The current solution to this problem is to use a short "lawn mower" spark plug in your hot rod and/or to use an unsightly ceramic boot or thermal fabric boot cover.  NOT ANYMORE!  You can now use whatever spark plug wires your heart desires and more importantly, you have a much greater selection in spark plug heat ranges and electrode styles with the 10mm plugs.  This is a win-win situation. Additional clearance and added power.  Just what every gear head dreams about.  See the picture above.  This shows the angularity gained on a straight plug small block chevy head.  And you can index the plug where ever you want it!

Gain additional header clearance!!!
